A Centralia College employee has been named the recipient of a regional staff member award just months after winning the Washington State Professional Staff Member Award.

Janet Reaume, the college’s executive assistant to the president and board of trustees, was selected for the 2017 Pacific Regional Professional Staff Member Award by the Association of Community College Trustees.

After winning the state award in May, Reaume was nominated for the regional award. She will accept her award during the annual ACCT Leadership Congress in Las Vegas on Sept. 27, according to a press release from the college.

She is also now under consideration for the national ACCT award.

"Janet is the perfect example of what an executive assistant should be. She represents the president and the trustees with professionalism, is courteous to anyone who contacts the president’s office, and always willing to take on difficult projects,” Jim Lowery, chairman of the Centralia College board of trustees, said. “We were so proud when she was named the professional for the Washington State Trustees Association, and even prouder that she has been selected to represent our region at the national trustee meeting. We won't be surprised if she is named the national winner."

Reaume began to work at the college in 2008 as an office clerk for the WorkFirst program. She was recognized as a hard worker and picked up extra hours in departments across campus, according to the release. Former president Jim Walton asked her to help part-time in his office. She later transitioned to full-time work in 2010.

As the executive assistant, Reaume serves both the president and the board of trustees. Her duties include coordinating meetings and travel schedules and tracking the budget. She serves as the primary contact for the college, addresses community inquiries and prepares informational materials and resources for the board of trustees.

Reaume also serves on a number of campus committees and coordinates with state and legislative offices on college matters, according to the release.
