The Centralia City Council unanimously approved the Centralia Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Committee’s recommendations for funding tourism activities around the county during its meeting Tuesday.
In total, six organizations requested $155,385, but $126,485 was allocated. None but the city’s bond payment for its portion of the Lewis County Events Center were entirely funded.
The allocations were:
• Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce requested $30,000 and received $24,000.
• Historic Fox Theatre requested $15,000 and received $9,000.
• The Lewis County Historical Society requested $3,500 and received $2,000.
• The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad & Museum requested $5,000 but received none.
• The Centralia Downtown Association requested $10,000, but withdrew its application.
The committee was chaired by Centralia City Councilor John Elmore.
