Celebrate Adaline Coffman Guild’s 75th Anniversary

The Adaline Coffman Guild, first formed in Lewis County in 1940, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a gala dinner and auction, with all funds raised donated to Seattle Children’s Hospital, which treats about 1,000 Lewis County children each year. Last year, Children’s Hospital provided $636,225 in uncompensated care to patients from Lewis County.

“We are celebrating 75 years of raising funds for uncompensated care at Children’s Hospital,” said event coordinator Tracy Mason. “Since it was started in 1940 we are going to celebrate in 1940s style with Casablanca-themed decorations. Since the movie ‘Casablanca’ was set in Morocco, our decorating team is having fun using vibrant colors and flair. We are hoping people will dress in 1940s attire, and any veterans are encouraged to wear their dress uniforms.”

The annual Adaline Coffman Guild 75th Anniversary Gala starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Washington Hotel, 545 N. Market Blvd. in Chehalis. Cost is $50 per person.

“My relationship with the hospital became very real to me three years ago when our son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes,” Mason said. “I had always heard how wonderful Children’s was but our family experienced it firsthand. I wasn’t about insurance approvals, it was about giving care to our son. I was so touched and realized I could continue to help with our guild for as long as I could.”

The evening includes a hosted bar, dinner and an auction. To RSVP, call Tracy Mason at (360)880-2423 or email her at tntmasons@peoplepc.com.

“We are hoping this will be a time to celebrate the last 75 years and raise more needed funds for Seattle Children’s Hospital,” Mason said. “When the children in Lewis County need more specialized care many are sent to Children’s. We are so fortunate to have this world-renowned facility available to our children.”

Children’s Hospital serves almost 1,000 children from Lewis County each year, and offers the top medical treatment in the region for children. With a $1.9 billion gross revenue budget, the hospital spends $126 million each year on under and uncompensated care annually for children whose families cannot afford expensive medical treatment.

In addition, Children’s Hospital is considered one of the leading research hospitals in the world, and this year was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as No. 6 in the country among the nation’s best children’s hospitals.
