Onalaska Alliance to Host Apple Harvest Festival

The Onalaska Apple Harvest Festival, sponsored by the Onalaska Alliance, will be held Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 4-7.

On Thursday, there is Royal Court bingo 6-8 p.m. at the Onalaska Elementary gym.

Friday’s events include a quilt show 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church and the Royal Court coronation at 6 p.m. at the elementary gym.

Saturday is loaded with events, including live entertainment, pie eating contests, vendors and booths, parade, activities for the whole family, pancake breakfast, 5k Apple Fun Run/Walk, and canoe and kayak races.

Sunday’s schedule includes an all-area church service and potluck 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the middle school gym, farm and homestead tour noon-4 p.m. (register at any of the nine farms of your choice). A farm to table dinner 5-8 p.m. at The Mason Jar, 637 Leonard Road, is sold out.

Assured Hospice Official to Speak at AAUW Meeting

Bethany Seymour, executive director of Assured Hospice, will be the guest speaker at the Thursday, Oct. 4, meeting of the American Association of University Women.

As a registered nurse for 19 years, Seymour has worked a majority of her career in home health and hospice. As executive director for Assured Hospice, Seymour works closely with her nurse liaison, frequently visiting out in the community focusing on education about resources and care options. 

Seymour will be presenting information about hospice in general, myths and facts, and how Assured Hospice can help patients and families at home as well as be a resource for providers and facilities in the community.

The AAUW meeting will be at 6:45 p.m. at The Gathering Place, 2800 Cooks Hill Road, Centralia. Use the entrance on Colonial Drive off Scammon Creek Road.

Fall Harvest Show Celebrating 100th Anniversary of Farm

The Wedin Farm & Friends Fall Harvest Show will be held Thursday-Saturday at 560 Spooner Road, Chehalis.

This year, the farm is celebrating its 100th year.

Hours are 4-7 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature antiques, primitives, country French, shabby chic, pumpkins, gourds, fall decor and more.

Soup, sandwiches and desserts will be provided by Dawn’s Delectables.

To drive to the farm, take exit 77 from Interstate 5, travel west on state Highway 6, turn right on Spooner Road and drive to the end of the road.

Comedian to Perform at Riverside

Comedian Todd Johnson will be at Riverside Golf Club, Chehalis, Friday. 

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show commences at 8 p.m.



Johnson, a native to Idaho, has performed all over the U.S. and Canada. In 2012, He was runnerup in the Big Sky Comedy Competition. In 2011, he participated in the Aspen Comedy Festival and was asked back to host the Best of the Fest of 2011 in Aspen, Colorado.

He was a finalist of the 29th International Seattle Comedy Competition in 2008. He also was featured on the Mad TV Network show “Man Up Stand Up” in 2009. 

Johnson has opened for Weird Al Yankovic and the country band Lonestar. He also can be heard on XM/Sirus and Comedy 24/7.

Providence Centralia Plans Gala Dinner, Auction

The 2018 Providence Centralia Hospital Gala Dinner and Auction will be held 5-9 p.m. at the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, 321 Hamilton Road, Chehalis.

This is Providence Centralia Hospital’s premier black-tie fundraising gala and auction.

The evening starts with a Pre-Gala Champagne Hour and Auto Museum Tour 5-6 p.m. At 6 p.m. is the main event with a silent and live auction, plated dinner, dessert dash, wine grab and live entertainment by the Backfire Band.

Advanced reservations are required. Admission is $100 per person (tables of up to eight).
