Couple to Own Newaukum Valley Vegetable Farm

The Washington State Housing Finance Commission announced the issuance of a $150,000 bond through its Beginning Farmer/Rancher Program last week.

Josh Hyatt and Melissa Henderson will borrow the proceeds to cover some costs of acquiring about 31 acres of agricultural land to farm vegetables near 428 Spooner Rd. in unincorporated Lewis County.

The couple also received a USDA loan of $135,000 and paid the balance of the purchase price of the property with their own equity, after nine years of farming and supplying fresh vegetables to restaurateurs.

Toledo High School Graduate Launches Retail Website

A Toledo High School graduate has launched a new retail website, everybodywear.com.

Katie Walter spent years researching and testing underwear to develop a high-rise thong panty in stretch cotton.

“Most thongs are uncomfortable because they are designed for looks and not fit,” Walter said in a press release. “Everybodywear fits because it works with a woman’s curves – not against them. We like to call it the dignified thong panty.”

Everybodywear is now selling online for $12 a pair. The company offers gift wrap and gift certificates that can be printed in Braille.

While the company is based in Redmond, Walter said she remains dedicated to the revitalization of Toledo.

“As Everybodywear grows, I will continue to look for ways to give back to the place that nurtured my personal development,” Walter said. “There’s nothing that would thrill me more than locating a pack-and-ship facility or call center right here in Toledo.”
