On Aug. 12, more than 50 school alumni, community members and former teachers came to the Baw Faw Grange to celebrate an all-class reunion and honor the Boistfort High School Class of 1968.

Of the 10 1968 graduates, four were able to attend (three out of state, three deceased) plus one former classmate who graduated elsewhere. There was a fun discussion of how the stern early-grade teachers managed to curb bad behavior among all, with plenty of stories to illustrate. (The teachers were mostly BHS graduates as well.)

The earliest graduate present was Ed Jones of 1944, followed by Ed Norman, Barbara Luebke Pavkovich and Nellie Ann Jones Wagner from 1951, Jim Barr (1953), Shirley Walters Javorsky and Sharon Poage Pakkala (1954), Gwen Fiedler Barr (1955) and Mike Keller (1957). The ’60’s, ’70s and a grade school grad from the ’80s were also represented.

It was also noted that it was the 100th anniversary of the 1918 class of three that graduated from Boistfort, the high school operating from 1917 to 1977.

Attendees were able to view the newly installed first Boistfort School bell that is next to the Grange building, complete with original wainscoting from the school building.
