Blood Drive Scheduled for Sharon Care Center in Centralia

Posted

A blood drive will be held at Sharon Care Center in Centralia on Thursday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The American Red Cross stated in a press release that blood products are routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients, and accident and trauma victims.

Volunteer blood donors are the primary source of blood used for transfusion, and the blood needs to be accessible before it is needed to help save lives.

With less than 38 percent of the nation’s population eligible to donate, only a fraction of those do so, stated the release.

Any healthy person ages 18, or 16 and 17 with signed parental consent, and up weighing at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood. Valid identification is required for all donations.

The Sharon Care Center is located at 1509 Harrison Ave. in Centralia. More information can be found by calling 1 (800) RED-CROSS or by going online to www.redcrossblood.org. Use sponsor code “SharonCareCenter” to schedule an appointment.
