Pacific Northwest mystery writer Ellie Alexander will unveil “On Thin Icing,” the third in the “Bakeshop Mysteries” series, 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Chehalis Timberland Library. A local baker will provide treats inspired by the book.

Like the first two novels, “On Thin Icing” is set in Ashland, Oregon, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Besides page-turning suspense, the books give readers a taste of Shakespeare, the charm of Ashland, and original, handcrafted recipes for pastries and sweets.

The Portland Book Review deems it “grand theater.”

“The author has baked up a delectable tale of murder and intrigue, as well as tasty pies, puddings, and pastries. This whodonut … er, whodunit, is well spiced with sweet treats and artisan coffee, enough to keep the reader guessing (and happy) with every turn,” the Book Review said.

The first two books in the series are “Meet Your Baker” and “A Batter of Life and Death.” All three books are available at Timberland regional libraries.

The Chehalis Timberland Library is located at 400 N. Market Blvd. For more information, call the library at (360) 748-3301 or visit www.TRL.org.
