A 30-year-old Randle man was transported to a hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the forearm while repairing a rifle Friday afternoon.

The man was working on a single-shot bolt-action .22-caliber rifle on the deck of his home on the 100 block of Baugh Road when something fell onto the floor, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

It appears he reached in front of the barrel of the gun and something bumped the unprotected trigger, causing the rifle to go off, according to the sheriff’s office.
