A Forest Stewardship Coached Planning Program will be offered 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings April 22-May 27 at the WSU Extension Office at the Lewis County Courthouse.
In addition, there will be a field trip Saturday, May 9.
Among the topics being covered in the program are:
• How to write a forest stewardship plan
• Forest ecology
• How to assess and maintain forest health
• Planting and caring for your forest
• Wildlife habitat enhancements
• Sustainable timber management
• Utilization of non-timber resources
• Forest soil characteristics
• How to protect and enhance water quality and aquatic habitat
• Where to go for help
The fee is $160 before April 16, and $185 after. Cost is per individual or couple from the same household/ownership and includes one set of materials and a site visit from a stewardship forester. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
