The body of fallen Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stephen “Mike” Gallagher was transported via police motorcade Thursday, and memorial services are being planned for next week.
The 34-year-old Adna resident died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Tuesday after suffering critical injuries when his patrol car struck an elk on U.S. Highway 12 while he was responding to a domestic violence call in Packwood Monday evening.
A public memorial service has been planned to honor his life and service as a law enforcement officer. The service will start at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Martin’s Pavilion located at 5300 Pacific Ave. in Lacey.
A closed private ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Church in Napavine, but is open only to local law enforcement, emergency services, close friends and family.
A private motorcade, exclusively for attendees of the private ceremony, will leave the Bethel Church in Napavine and travel to the public service at St. Martins Pavilion directly after the closed ceremony concludes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund, in Deputy Gallagher’s name, at any TwinStar Credit Union branch. Donations can also be sent to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 345 West Main St. in Chehalis, and should be marked for the Deputy Gallagher Memorial Fund.
