Applicants Sought for Planning Commission Position Representing South Thurston County

Posted

The Thurston County Board of Commissioners is seeking county citizens who are interested in volunteering on the planning commission.

One position on the volunteer board is open to citizens that live in District 3, which includes Rochester, Grand Mound, Littlerock, Tumwater, the Summit Lake area and other communities in west Thurston County

The Thurston County Planning Commission is an advisory board serving the commissioners. The planning commission makes recommendations and reviews the county’s land development regulations, land use codes, and comprehensive land use plans. Topics of interest include zoning, subdivision ordinances, master plans and subarea plans.

Planning commission members receive assistance from the county’s planning division in the Resource Stewardship Department. Regular public meetings of the planning commission are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The nine members of the commission serve six-year terms.
