Posted

Centralia College will hold its 2011 commencement exercises Friday at 4 p.m. on the field north of the college Clocktower, regardless of weather conditions.

More than 600 graduates, a college record, are eligible to receive their degree or certificate. Nearly half that number participate in the outdoor ceremony. There is no limit on the number of guests a graduate may invite.

The processional will be led by senior faculty member Beverley Gestrine and will begin at 3:50 p.m. as students walk from the gymnasium to the seating area. The 2011 Distinguished Alumnus recipient, Rick Anderson, chairman and CEO of Moss Adams, is the event’s scheduled speaker.

Richard Jimenez, president of the Associated Students of Centralia College, will give the student address. Kelly Fetters, Arbie Groninger, Yesenia Mendez, Trevor White and Steve Wirth will be given the Outstanding Student Award.

The commencement may also be viewed on cable channel 3 locally. A reception sponsored by Student Life and Involvement Center will follow.
