Commissioners Enter Agreement for Feasibility Study on Possible Rail Line Purchase

In the hope of determining if buying 20 miles of rail line is a good investment for Lewis County, a feasibility study will be conducted, thanks to grant money.

The Board of Lewis County Commissioners accepted an agreement Monday between the county and the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, which provides $30,000 toward the analysis.

The agreement requires a matching share for a total project cost of $60,000.

The county is responsible to find a contracted consultant to perform the study.

The study is for a 20-mile stretch of the Tacoma Railroad between Maytown and Chehalis that the county has been considering purchasing.
