BREAKING NEWS: Lewis County Deputy Critically Injured After Hitting Elk

A 34-year-old Lewis County sheriff's deputy was seriously injured after his patrol cruiser hit an elk near Packwood Monday night on U.S. Highway 12.

The crash at 8:23 p.m. took place near mile post 130 on U.S. Highway 12.

The deputy, who has six years of service in the department, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. According to a press release, the deputy is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
