Gov. Jay Inslee will visit south Thurston and Lewis counties tomorrow as part of his 2014 Climate Tour.

The tour has brought the governor to several communities over the summer to talk about climate change and the effects it has on businesses, families and communities. This portion of the tour deals primarily with flooding issues that have affected the Chehalis River Basin.

According to an official itinerary, the governor will first meet with the Chehalis Basin Working Group at the Chehalis Tribal Community Center, 461 Secena Road in Oakville, at noon to discuss impacts of persistent flooding in the Chehalis River Basin.

Inslee’s tour continues at 1:30 p.m. at Helsing Junction Farm in Rochester to talk about efforts the farm has made to mitigate the impact of flooding on their property. His tour will move on to Adna High School at 2:20, where he will hear from students and teachers on the impact of flooding on students and the community.

Inslee will then visit Centralia College’s Kiser Natural Outdoor Learning Lab on the corner of Washington Avenue and Walnut Street in Centralia. There, he will present a biomass grant award to Onalaska Wood Energy.

Previous stops on Inslee’s climate tour that began this summer include Wapato, where he visited the Roza Irrigation District’s Regulation Facility, designed to enhance water resources in the Yakima River basin. He has also visited the Columbia River Gorge, where he toured forests harmed by the Asian long-horned beetle, and a biomass energy project near Stevenson.
