Blood Drives Organized for Red Cross Month

Posted

The American Red Cross is encouraging members of the community to give blood in celebration of Red Cross Month.

One blood donation opportunity will be available this month in Lewis County and will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 31 at the Sharon Care Center, located at 1509 Harrison Ave. in Centralia.

March has been designated as Red Cross Month since 1943 and is used as a time to recognize those who support the organization.

Red Cross relies on donations of blood, time and money to fulfill its humanitarian mission in local communities that depend on the organization. All blood types are needed. A driver’s license, blood donor card or two forms of other identification are required at check-in.

Those who are not eligible donors can help by organizing a blood drive, volunteering for Red Cross activities, or creating a SleevesUp virtual blood drive online by asking others to make donations.

To make appointments to give blood or for more information, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1(800) RED-CROSS.
