A 36-year-old Oakville man crashed his 2000 Cadillac Escalade into a tree early this morning off of U.S. Highway 12 East in Oakville, injuring himself and a 24-year-old male passenger.

The Washington State Patrol said Kevin A. Albert was driving westbound at 2:17 a.m. when his Escalade left the roadway at milepost 30, veered across Elma Gate Road East, traveled down a ravine and hit a tree.

Albert was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for head lacerations. His passenger, Jay A. McCall, was also transported to the hospital for neck pain.

The State Patrol charged Albert with driving under the influence, citing it as the cause of the crash, and said his vehicle was totaled.
