Open House on Scatter Creek Aquifer Project Is July 30

The Scatter Creek Aquifer Project Citizens Committee and staff from the Thurston County Public Health and Social Services Department invite the public to an open house community workshop about the Scatter Creek Aquifer on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The workshop will include information stations about Scatter Creek Aquifer water quality monitoring, septic systems and details about the project, plus a brief presentation and question and answer session beginning at 7:30 p.m.

For residents of south Thurston County, the health of the county’s groundwater is a subject that hits close to home — almost all of the county’s residents in the areas around Rochester, Grand Mound and parts of Tenino depend on wells fed by the Scatter Creek Aquifer for their drinking water.

The July 30 open house is designed to update Scatter Creek Aquifer residents on the progress of the county’s water quality monitoring and groundwater modeling project, and also offer practical advice on well maintenance and septic system maintenance.

The meeting will take place at the Rochester Middle School Commons, 9937 Highway 12 SW in Rochester.
