Gina’s Organics to Hold Healthy Eating Class

    An eating informational evening will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Gina’s Organics in Chehalis. This class is free of charge.

    Topics that will be covered during the evening include gaining an understanding of the impact food choices having on the environment and social issues; getting the breakdown on different types of eating such as vegetarian versus vegan and cooked versus raw food; and learning the health benefits of a plant-based diet. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions in a supportive setting.

    Gina’s Organics is located at 1735 Kresky Ave., in Chehalis. For additional information, call 339-5639.

David Lanz to Give Special Concert

    David Lanz will be giving a special benefit concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the LaFond Conservatory of Music, International Retreat Center. Wine and special appetizers will be served at 7 p.m. followed by the concert at 8 p.m.

    Total cost is $100 per person, and pre-registration is required by Wednesday, Nov. 18. Attendance is limited to 30 people.

    All proceeds will benefit Pope’s Kids’ Place and your donation is tax deductible.

Passage Quilt Workday Scheduled

    There will be a workday at St. Urban Grange, located on the corner of Sargent Road and North Military Road, on Thursday, to make passage quilts for the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, Wash.

    Those interested may come from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or as their schedule allows, according to organizers. A potluck lunch will be served at noon.

    The hospital uses the quilts following a veteran’s death. Materials are provided. Telephone Chris Schaefer at 785-3366 for information.

Arrest Made in Stolen H1N1 Vaccine

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the case involving the theft of two vials of H1N1 vaccine from an unlocked medical refrigerator at Providence SoundHomeCare & Hospice in the 3400 block of South Bay Road.

Alissa K. Yoder, 37, of West Liberty Ohio, was arrested at around 3 p.m. Thursday, said Thurston County Chief Criminal Deputy James Chamberlain. She had been hired as a contractor to work at the hospice.
