Washington Prostitution Sting Overwhelmed by Demand

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Vancouver police detectives say an overwhelming number of people tried to meet with an undercover officer who was conducting a prostitution sting.

Authorities said the sting on Friday began when detectives placed an undercover advertisement in the "escort" section of the website backpage.com. The nine-hour sting operation led to the arrest of 15 men ranging in age from 22 to 57 years old.

Authorities say that at many points during the process, the detectives were unable to keep pace with the volume of phone calls. After making contact with the officer, authorities say they directed the men to a local hotel and arrested the men once they arrived at the hotel room.
