A Chehalis man died Saturday morning in Kalama after he drove his car onto railroad tracks and was hit head-on by a northbound train, a Portland TV station is reporting.
Michael L. Turpin, 40, died in the collision at approximately 2:10 a.m., KGW.com quotes Sgt. Steve Parker of the Kalama police saying.
Kalama does not have any railroad crossings, KGW reported. The station quotes Parker saying that Turpin went through a parking lot and onto the tracks. His vehicle did not have lights on and alcohol was found in the truck, KGW reports.
