Lewis County Rehousing Program Receives $136,719 From HUD

The Lewis County Housing Resource Center has been awarded $136,719 in grant money for its rapid rehousing program

The sum represents  nearly $28,000 more than the center received last year for the McKinney Transitional Housing Program from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The program provides rental subsidies for homeless families for a minimum of three months to a maximum of two years. The families work with case managers to become self-sufficient.

The majority of the grant money, $90,864, will go toward rental assistance. Support services will receive $40,668, and $5,187 will go toward administrative costs.

Lewis County officials apply for and administer the grant on behalf of the Housing Resource Center, formerly the Lewis County Shelter Program, which has provided transitional housing since 2002.  The grant extending the McKinney program runs until the end of April 2016.
