The man charged with the rape and homicide of a 2-year-old Centralia girl will appear in Lewis County Superior Court next Thursday for an arraignment and to set a trial date.

James Maurice Reeder was charged last week with homicide by abuse, two counts of rape of a child, two counts of assault and possession of methamphetamine.

Karolynn Fister was pronounced dead shortly after Reeder, the boyfriend of Fister’s mother, claimed she drowned in a bathtub at a home near West Oakview Avenue in north Centralia.

Investigators found evidence of prolonged abuse and “systematic torture,” according to court documents.

He was set to appear in court Thursday for arraignment but it was postponed until next week.

He is being held in the Lewis County Jail and his bail is set at $5 million.
