Ballet Theatre of Washington is planning auditions for its 2015-16 company, as well as for community cast members to be a part of its October 2015 productions. Auditions are open to dancers ages 8 and up, as well as to wrestlers and athletes interested in the roles of monsters in "Firebird." Participants may also be asked to perform in BTW's December “Nutcracker” event. In addition to performing, those chosen for the company will also receive weekly classes, master classes, scholarship opportunities and trips to see professional productions.
BTW’s fall production will be "The Sleeping Beauty Act III: Aurora's Wedding" and "Firebird." Performance dates are set for Oct. 16-17 at Corbet Theatre, Centralia College.
Auditions will be held Saturday, May 16, at the Centralia Ballet Academy, 221 S. Tower Ave. in Centralia. Following are the audition times:
Company audition: 1-3 p.m., open to dancers ages 11-plus with at least two years of formal training (those en pointe should bring their pointe shoes).
Community auditions, age 10-plus: 3:15-4 p.m.
Community auditions, age 8-9, 4:15-4:45 p.m.
Wrestlers, athletes: 5-5:45 p.m.
