Centralia police are currently investigating the theft of mail from the drop boxes in front of the post office.

Mail taken from the drop boxes next to the post office on the 200 block of South Silver Street was later located near the intersection of Yew Street and Main Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

Two other mailboxes in the area, including one in Rochester and another in Galvin, were also compromised, said Sgt. Carl Buster. All the recovered mail was turned in to the Centralia postmaster.

Many of the pieces of mail were ballots for the upcoming school levies.

If you feel that your mail has been stolen, contact your local Postmaster. For any questions concerning your ballots contact the county Auditor’s Office (360) 740-1156.
