Herrera Beutler Says Tax Cuts Leading to Better Health Care

Tax cuts passed last year are leading to better rural health care, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, said in a statement Monday. Following an announcement by Premera Blue Cross of a $200 million investment in Washington health care, Herrera Beutler said the company’s plan was enabled by the tax bill passed by Congress in December.

“(A)nother advantage of the tax cuts Congress passed is that rural residents won’t be left without health care options next year thanks to Premera’s announcement today,” Herrera Beutler’s statement read.

Premera guaranteed that all counties in Washington will have at least one health insurance choice, while pledging to bolster health care providers in rural areas and commit more money to behavioral health.

“This refund has given us an unexpected opportunity to reach beyond our own company to further address the critical health care needs of the communities where we live and work,” Premera President and CEO Jeff Roe said in a statement.
