Woman Struck, Killed by Train in Centralia

A woman died Monday afternoon after being struck by a train in downtown Centralia, according to the Riverside Fire Authority. 

The woman, estimated to be about 50 years old, was identified by her fingerprints, Lewis County Coroner Warren McLeod told The Chronicle Tuesday.

Her name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

At 1:40 p.m. on Monday, RFA crews responded to a report of a train hitting a pedestrian at the intersection of East Locust Street and Railroad Avenue in Centralia.

The woman was pronounced dead upon arrival at Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the Riverside Fire Authority. 

BNSF rail lines were closed for approximately 30 minutes. The Centralia Police Department is investigating the incident.
