Aurora S. Fulmer makes her first appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on suspicion of identity theft and theft last June.
A Winlock woman arrested last year after being accused of stealing nearly $44,000 from the estate of a woman who had recently died has been sentenced to spend a year in prison.
Aurora S. Fulmer, 34, pleaded guilty in November to three counts of second-degree identity theft and one count of second-degree theft.
She was sentenced Wednesday to 12 months and one day in prison.
According to court documents, deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Fulmer after a woman reported in February 2017 that Fulmer was living in her recently-deceased mother’s home and withdrawing money from bank accounts in her mother’s name.
Fulmer reportedly told the woman she was the mother’s live-in caregiver and that she had been given power of attorney.
She provided a document that had one power of attorney crossed out, and Fulmer’s name in its place, according to court documents.
The alleged victim reported she found charges to her deceased mother’s accounts for body piercing, jewelry and money orders.
Fulmer was also accused of attempting to file a new will on behalf of the mother in which she allegedly crossed out other beneficiaries and wrote in her own name.
In total, she was accused of taking $43,851 fraudulently from the woman’s estate.
