Winlock Man Pleads Guilty to Reduced Charge Following April Stabbing

A Winlock man charged in April with first-degree assault after allegedly trying to stab a woman at her home was sentenced this week to more than a year in prison.

Gregory Louis Trujillo, 58, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, domestic violence, on Tuesday. His trial was scheduled to begin this week. He was sentenced the same day to 14 months in prison. 

At 10:30 p.m. on April 1, police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 300 block of Cedar Court in Winlock. 

A woman at the property told police Trujillo beat her with his fists and tried to stab her. The knife cut the victim’s hand as she tried to defend herself. 

Trujillo allegedly told the woman she wouldn’t leave the residence alive. She was able to escape with a friend and contacted police, according to court documents. 

Police surrounded the house and attempted to contact Trujillo by knocking and using a telephone and a loudspeaker, but received no response. They entered the home and reportedly found him in a bedroom with stab wounds to his belly.

He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and charged in Lewis County Superior Court on April 7.
