In the second structure fire in less than 24 hours in Lewis County over the weekend, a Winlock home was severely damaged early Sunday morning, according to Lewis County Fire District 15.

The fire was reported at 4:58 a.m. Sunday morning in the 100 block of Rarey Road in Winlock.

“First arriving units found heavy fire conditions from a double wide threatening a detached garage,” according to a Facebook post from Winlock’s Fire District 15. “Crews initiated (a) defensive attack and also protected the detached garage.”

The fire was under control by 6:20 a.m., according to the fire district. Crews remained on scene until 10 a.m.

Kevin Anderson with Fire District 15 said the Red Cross responded to the scene for three adults who were displaced because of the fire.

It appeared the fire started in a living area, Anderson said, but said it’s up to fire investigators to determine the likely cause.

The home and its contents were destroyed. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Lewis County Fire Marshal.

Firefighters from Lewis County Fire Districts 15, 2, 20, 5 and 6 responded. No injuries were reported.
