Updated: Child Killed in Galvin Road Crash Identified

Update: The Lewis County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the child who died in the traffic collision on Monday in Centralia as Jaredsi Torres, 8, of Rochester. The cause of death is listed as blunt impact head injuries and the manner is accidental. See the original story below. A child was killed and a woman was seriously injured after their vehicle collided with a parked truck on Galvin Road Monday.

At 2:47 p.m., the Centralia Police Department and the Riverside Fire Authority responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Galvin Road and Gallagher Road.

Crews found a vehicle with two occupants that hit a parked pickup truck.

The female driver was seriously injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The passenger, a girl under 10 years old, was declared dead at the scene, according to a release from the Centralia Police Department.

Investigators from the Washington State Patrol are conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.

Both victims were identified but their names have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

A portion of Galvin Road was closed for several hours.
