Two women were killed as a result of a rear-end collision Saturday on Interstate 5 south of Chehalis, according to the Washington State Patrol.

At 1:01 p.m. on Saturday, two vehicles — a 2013 Ford Focus sedan and a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado truck — were stopped for traffic on southbound I-5 at milepost 69.5, approximately 6 miles south of Chehalis, according to the WSP.

The Ford was behind the Chevrolet truck in the left lane.

A third vehicle, a 2016 Honda Civic, reportedly struck the rear end of the Ford, pushing it into the rear end of the Chevrolet truck, according to the WSP.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and possible charges are pending, according to the State Patrol. Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

The two occupants of the Ford — driver Jody M. Bagnariol, 63, of Hillsboro Oregon, and passenger Elisabeth R. Rudolf, 50, of Seattle, were both seriously injured and transported by helicopter to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.

Both died on Sunday, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the Chevrolet truck, identified as Benjamin E. Siapco, 46, of Auburn, was not injured, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Ashley M. Smith, 21, of Centralia, was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. A passenger in the Honda, Jordan C. Smith, 24, was not injured.

All three vehicles were totaled.
