Two Arrested After Scuffle With Police in Chehalis

Two Easton residents were charged Friday after allegedly getting into a scuffle with Chehalis police officers the previous day.

At 7:48 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue after getting a report of a shoplifter.

They arrived and contacted a man, later identified as Imra G. Vanwolvelaere, 41, of Easton, and officers “ended up getting into a wrestling match with him,” said Chehalis Deputy Chief Randy Kaut.

Vanwolvelaere was originally arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, for allegedly assaulting an officer, but was not charged with that crime in Lewis County Superior Court Friday.

Officers also contacted Julia E. Tucker, 35, also of Easton, who was associated with Vanwolvelaere.

“It was determined that they had both come in a stolen pickup truck and so she was taken into custody as well and both were booked into the jail,” Kaut said.

Both were charged Friday with one count each possession of a stolen vehicle.
