A Toledo man charged in June after an FBI investigation into child pornography was sentenced this month to spend 77 months, or nearly 6 and a 1/2 years, in prison.

Wayde Gordon Rice, 58, of Toledo, pleaded guilty on Oct. 5 to three counts of first-degree possession of a depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and one count of second-degree possession of a depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He was sentenced on Nov. 9.

Rice was originally charged June 21 with one first-degree count of the offense.

On Feb. 1, 2016, FBI agents and detectives in Seattle investigating a rape and child pornography case came across a number of email addresses connected to current suspects.

One of those emails allegedly belonged to Rice. Detectives reviewed Rice’s computer devices and found images of “child sexual exploitation,” according to court documents.

Rice is a retired firefighter and has no previous criminal history.
