Speed to Blame for Crash on U.S. Highway 12 in East Lewis County

Two people were injured in a crash Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash at milepost 146 of East U.S. Highway 12 in East Lewis County, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol. 

The crash was reported at 11:07 a.m. Saturday. According to the state patrol, the first vehicle, a 2004 Ford Ranger, was heading east , while a second vehicle, a 2008 GMC Sierra, was heading west at the same location — milepost 146. The Ford “lost traction,” went into the westbound lane and hit the GMC. 

The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old Spanaway man and his passenger, a 54-year-old Spanaway woman, were both injured and transported to Arbor Health Morton General Hospital. The driver and sold listed occupant of the GMC, a 62-year-old Tacoma man, was not injured. 

According to the state patrol, the Ford was traveling too fast for the conditions.
