Smoke Causes Brief Evacuation of Part of Providence Centralia Hospital

A large amount of smoke in an equipment room caused the radiology department of Providence Centralia Hospital to be evacuated for about an hour Monday evening.

The smoke was likely caused by overheated electrical equipment, according to the Riverside Fire Authority, and caused no damage to the building.

Crews went to the hospital at 10:22 p.m. Monday, after staff there reported smoke in a room housing magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Firefighters confirmed that the problem was isolated to that single room, and the radiology department was evacuated.

The amount of damage done was labeled as “light” in a press release from RFA.
