Sirens: Woman Accused of Assault Over Laundry, Luggage Stolen, Green Hill Inmates Referred for Assault Charges

Shoplifting Suspect Cited

• At 5:54 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 100 block of West High Street and cited John S. Youngbrandt, 44, a transient, on suspicion of third-degree theft. 

Woman Accused of Assault Over Laundry

• At 5:54 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1500 block of View Avenue. A woman reported her roommate assaulted her for removing clothes from a dryer without her permission. Kimberly R. Torres, 45, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. 

Man Booked on Assault Charge

• At 10:49 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 2300 block of Sirkka Avenue in Centralia. Edward A. Guntrum, 70, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault for allegedly assaulting his roommate with a board. 

Luggage Stolen

• At 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, luggage was reported stolen from the lobby of an apartment complex in the 300 block of West Pine Street. 

Cash Taken

• At 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, cash was reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of North Pearl Street. The case is under investigation. 

Two Arrested on Shoplifting Charge

• At 8:04 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1400 block of Lum Road in Centralia. Felicia D. Lane, 30, and Lynne E. Thompson, 50, both transients, were arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft.

Centralia Man Referred for Charges of Bringing Drugs Into Health Care Facility

• At 9:39 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road for a drug complaint. A 19-year-old Centralia resident is being referred to prosecutors on a heroin possession charge after he allegedly brought the drug into a health care facility.

Parking Lot Campers Deemed Suspicious

• At 6:15 p.m. on Monday, police learned of a camper with suspicious occupants parked in a lot in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way. 

• At 7 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of suspicious people camping in a vehicle in a parking lot. 

Teen Cited on Marijuana Charge

• At 10:54 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a teen in possession of marijuana in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street. Jazlyn F. Thamarus, 18, of Chehalis, was cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana. 

Green Hill Inmates Referred for Assault Charges

• At 3:39 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of assaults that occurred between inmates at Green Hill school in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street in the past month. The first incident involved one inmate striking another and occurred on March 7. A 17-year-old Chehalis male is being referred to prosecutors for a fourth-degree assault charge. In another incident, which occurred March 8, three inmates reportedly attacked a fourth. The suspects — a 16-year-old Longview male and two 17-year-old Chehalis males are being referred for fourth-degree assault charges. 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Trailer Stolen

• At 7:57 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of a theft in the past week of a 1975 Peer tank trailer valued at $1,000 from the 200 block of Ritchie Lane in Chehalis. The trailer was parked in a non-secured lot. The investigation is ongoing. 

Cash, Jewelry Taken in Chehalis Burglary

• At 11:21 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of a burglary that day at a residence in the 100 block of Northview Drive in Chehalis. Currency, including cash and jewelry valued together at more than $6,000 was taken. An unknown suspect entered through an unlocked bedroom window. An investigation is ongoing.  

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 231 inmates with 196 in general population, 34 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 161 were male and 35 female and of WERC inmates, 31 were male and three female. A total of 29 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
