Mail Stolen

• At 8:10 a.m. on Friday, mail was reported stolen from a mailbox in the 1200 block of West First Street. 

Vehicle Stolen, Involved in Police Chase in Oregon

• At 11:31 a.m. on Friday, a white 2002 Cadillac Escalade was reported stolen from a parking lot in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. Police later located the vehicle in Eugene, Oregon, where it became involved in a pursuit. The driver, whose name was not released, was arrested with the help of a K9 unit. 

Longview Man Arrested on Drug Possession, DUI Charges

• At 11:35 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue and arrested Kenneth L. Farris, 45, of Longview, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and heroin. He is also being referred to prosecutors on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

DUIs

• At 3:28 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested Abel M. Isguerra, 25, of Onalaska, on suspicion of DUI. 

• At 11:43 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the intersection of Sixth and B streets and arrested Heriberto Hernandez Guzman, 27, of Centralia, on suspicion of DUI.

• At 1:57 a.m. on Monday, police responded to the 100 block of South Pearl Street and arrested Nicholas D. Childers, 33, of Toledo, on suspicion of DUI. 

Groceries Stolen

• At 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a theft of groceries from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. A suspect reportedly fled in a Jeep Wrangler. 

Suspect Booked for Protection Order Violation

• At 1:51 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue and arrested Vern J. Gumph, 54, of Centralia, on suspicion of violating a domestic-violence no-contact order.  

Rock Thrown Through Windshield

• At 8:16 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report of malicious mischief from the 700 block of Yew Street. A large rock was thrown through a vehicle’s windshield. 

Yard Ornament Taken

• At 12:16 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a theft of a yard ornament, a large metal anchor, at the intersection of B and Third Street. No suspects were located. 

Vehicle Scratched in Act of Vandalism

• At 3:17 p.m. on Sunday, malicious mischief was reported in the 2800 block of Russell Road. A victim reported his vehicle was scratched multiple times by an unknown suspect. 

Mailbox Damaged

• At 6:36 p.m. on Sunday, malicious mischief was reported to a community mailbox in the 300 block of Prairie Rose Street. The case is under investigation. 

Driver Stopped for Speeding Cited on Pot Charge

• At 6:48 p.m. on Sunday, police stopped a vehicle for speeding off exit 82 of Interstate 5. The driver, identified as Savannah D. J. Carlson, 19, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana and being a driver under 21 consuming marijuana. She was cited and released with a court date. 

Chehalis Police Department 

Saddle Stolen in Burglary 

• At 10:40 a.m. on Friday, a burglary was reported in the 900 block of Southwest William Avenue in Chehalis. A western saddle was reported stolen.  

Trespassers Reported

• At 6:06 p.m. on Friday, a trespasser was reported in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street. No arrests were made. 

• At 4:31 p.m. on Saturday, a trespasser was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard. A person reported hearing people running around on his roof. 

• At 3:02 p.m. on Sunday, a trespasser was reported in the 500 block of Southwest Riverside Drive.  

Counterfeit $100 Spotted

• At 10:23 a.m. on Sunday, a counterfeit $100 bill was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Malicious Mischief, Dispute Between Neighbors Leads to 911 Call

• At 12:57 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a dispute between neighbors in the 1200 block of Bishop Road. A person reported they built a new fence and said their neighbors tore it down. No arrests were made. 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Burglary Reported at Centralia Residence

• On Friday, a burglary was reported in the past week at a residence in the 600 block of Nick Road. The victim, an 82-year-old Centralia resident, reported two doors were damaged but nothing was missing. 

DUIs

• At 4:52 a.m. on Saturday, deputies conducted a welfare check at Schaefer Park on a vehicle running with a person sleeping inside. Mathew R. Takacs, 32, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of having physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated. 

• At 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, a deputy stopped a vehicle for erratic lane travel in the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Ethel. The driver, Nathan A. Dewaele, 32, of Salkum, was arrested on suspicion of DUI. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 236 inmates with 205 in general population and 31 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 162 were male and 43 female and of WERC inmates 31 were male and three female. A total of 30 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
