Sirens: Transient Booked for Alleged Assault on Nurse; Man Arrested After Foot Chase

Centralia Police Department 

Laptop Stolen

• At 12:43 p.m. on Thursday, a laptop was reported stolen from a residence in the 2600 block of Eureka Avenue. 

 

Suspect Cited for Theft of Sunglasses

• At 1:38 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of a theft in the 1200 block of Alder Street. Taylor L. Ayala, 30, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly taking a pair of sunglasses from a co-worker.

 

Man Arrested on Assault Charge

• At 9:08 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested Heath A. Schwab, 45, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault after he was accused of assaulting a woman. 

 

Man Arrested on Warrant After Foot Chase

• At 11:06 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue and arrested Derrek J. Larson, 25, of Centralia, after a foot chase. He was arrested on two outstanding warrants and on suspicion of criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

 

Vehicle Window Broken

• At 11:23 p.m. on Thursday, malicious mischief was reported in the 400 block of Plum Street. A vehicle’s front passenger window was smashed. Nothing was reported stolen. 

 

Fuel Stolen

• At 11:57 a.m. on Friday, a theft of gasoline was reported in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue. Fuel was reportedly siphoned from a vehicle overnight. 

 

Hit and Run

• At 1:45 p.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. The victim driver had minor injuries. The suspect vehicle is described as a black passenger car. The case is under investigation. 

 

DUIs

• At 8:08 p.m. on Friday, police responded to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue and arrested Ricky T. Ashe, 35, of Centralia, on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without an ignition interlock device and a Centralia Municipal Court warrant. 

• At 12:41 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 1300 block of Johnson Road and arrested Timothy Barr, 25, on suspicion of a physical control DUI.

 

Transient Booked for Alleged Assault on Nurse

• At 12:02 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road. Joshua A. Chum, 22, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault. He was accused of assaulting a nurse at Providence Centralia Hospital.

 

Packwood Suspect Arrested on Identity Theft, Drug Charges

• At 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Cody T. Vala, 24, of Packwood, on suspicion of identity theft, possession of methamphetamine, making a false statement and resisting arrest. 

Wine Taken

• At 12:09 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a theft of a bottle of wine in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue. Two suspects were identified through video surveillance. An investigation is ongoing. 

 

Money Taken

• At 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, money was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue. 

 

Man Booked on Trespassing Charge

• At 3:34 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1000 block of Eckerson Road and arrested Steven M. Fullerton, 56, on suspicion of trespassing. 

 

Woman Reported Missing

• At 7:56 p.m. on Saturday, a 62-year-old woman was reported missing from the 100 block of West Magnolia Street. An investigation is ongoing. 

 

Women Shoplift, Flee in Mercedes

• At 6:03 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of two women stealing $500 to $1,000 in merchandise from a business in the 1400 block of Lum Road. The women reportedly fled in a black Mercedes.

 

Centralia Man Issued Summons for Assault

• At 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of West Pine Street. A 50-year-old Centralia man was issued a court summons in the case. 

 

California Man Booked on Drug, Theft, Unlawful Imprisonment

• At 10:46 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 900 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Andrew P. Hoefer, 34, of Anderson, California, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, identity theft, unlawful imprisonment and violation of a protection order.
