Sirens: School Bus Strikes Parked Vehicle; Drunken Man Disrupts Children’s Christmas Program

School Bus Strikes Parked Vehicle

• At 2:51 p.m. Wednesday, a school bus struck a vehicle parked in the 100 block of North Oak Street. Damage was minor and no injuries were reported.

 

Alleged Drunk Driver Hits House

• At 4:53 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 100 block of West Alaska Way and arrested Joseph W. Anderson, 33, of Chehalis on suspicion of driving under the influence after allegedly failing to negotiate a left-hand turn and striking a house. The damage to the house was minimal.

 

Suspect Booked on Drug Charge

• At 6:16 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1200 block of Mellen Street and arrested Stacy L. Cook, 39, of Chehalis on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine.

 

Hit and Run

• At 4:58 p.m. Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in the 1200 block of Alder Street.

 

Thefts

• At 12:42 p.m. Thursday, a theft of mail from a mailbox was reported in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 12:56 p.m. Thursday, a theft of two bicycles was reported from a residence in the 1300 block of Rhobina Street.

 

Harassment Suspect Booked

• At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 2600 block of Cooks Hill Road and arrested Rafael R. Ramirez, 43, of Centralia on suspicion of felony harassment.

 

Police Arrest DUI Suspect

• At 11:59 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 900 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Kelly L. Wulf, 56, of Salkum on suspicion of driving under the influence.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

Verbal Harassment Reported

• At 12:02 p.m. Wednesday, a business in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way reported a female subject was verbally harassing staff.

 

Two Men Spotted Drinking Alcoholic Beverage in Public

• At 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, police were alerted to two men in the 1200 block of South Market Street drinking a can of an alcoholic beverage out in public.

 

Police Arrest Theft Suspect

• At 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Leighton A. Tangen, 44, of Porter, Washington on suspicion of third-degree theft.

 

Suspect Booked for Showing Up Where Previously Trespassed

• At 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard and arrested Ryan A. Emery, 25, of Chehalis on suspicion of criminal trespass.

 

Drunken Man Disrupts Children’s Christmas Program

• At 6:56 p.m. Wednesday, a caller in the 600 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue reported a drunk male subject was disrupting a kids’ Christmas program. The man was being loud and getting into arguments with people in the crowd.

 

Caller Reports Woman Acting Erratically, Suspects Drug Use

• At 4:50 p.m. Thursday, a caller at Fifth and Williams streets reported a woman was rolling around on the ground. The caller suspected she had been using drugs.

 

Two Suspects Try to Snatch Purse

• At 9:20 p.m. Thursday, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue said two men tried to snatch her purse out of a shopping cart.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 226 inmates, with 198 in general population, 26 in the work ethic and restitution center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 154 were male and 44 were female and of WERC inmates, 23 were male and three were female. A total of 37 inmates were booked through contracts outside Lewis County.
