Sirens: Scams Reported; Suspect Found Non-Responsive, Booked on Heroin Charge; Man Shoplifts Hair Product

Tools, Gas Cans, Hunting Bow Taken from Centralia Garage

• At 8:52 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Union Avenue in Centralia to a report of a burglary to a detached garage. Gas cans, assorted tools and a hunting bow were stolen in the past two days. The case is under investigation.  

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 231 inmates with 197 in general population, 33 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 160 were male and 37 female and of WERC inmates, 29 were male and three female. A total of 28 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County. 

Centralia Police Department

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

• At 8:54 a.m. on Wednesday, a white Ford Explorer was found abandoned in the 1300 block of Lum Road. Police learned the vehicle earlier was reported stolen. 

Car Batteries Stolen

• At 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, used car batteries were reported stolen from the 1400 block of South Tower Avenue. 

Hit and Runs

• At 3:03 p.m. on Wednesday, a  hit and run was reported in the 3200 block of Galvin Road. 

• At 7:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Leland Henderson, 61, of Rochester, was cited on suspicion of hit and run in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue. 

Accused Shoplifter Arrested

• At 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the 100 block of West High Street and arrested Joseph D. Whitney-House, 18, a transient, on suspicion of third-degree theft and outstanding warrants. He was reportedly caught shoplifting clothes. 

Suspects Booked on Drug Charges

• At 12:21 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of South Gold Street and arrested Dylon L. Favro, 25, a transient, and Brianna L. Gallion, 28, of Centralia, on outstanding warrants and on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. 

• At 9:48 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of Jefferson Street in Centralia and arrested John W. Franken, 34, of Centralia, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding warrant. 

• At 4:57 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Derrick J. Larson, 25, of Chehalis, on outstanding warrants and on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. 

Car Damaged in Malicious Mischief

• At 8:50 a.m. on Thursday, malicious mischief was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. A car was damaged.  

Man Shoplifts Hair Product

• At 5:48 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue after a male suspect allegedly took aspirin and pomade. The suspect fled before police arrived. 

Woman Steals Clothing

• At 7:16 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 100 block of West High Street to a report of a woman stealing clothing from a store. No arrests were made. 

Attempted Burglary Reported at Business

• At 3:08 a.m. on Friday, an attempted burglary was reported at a business in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue. 

Chehalis Police Department

Burglary

• At 7:43 a.m. on Wednesdayy, a second-degree burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. No arrests were made. 

Generator Stolen

• At 8:47 a.m. on Wednesday, a generator was reported stolen from the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. 

Trespassers Reported

• At 11:01 a.m. on Wednesday, a trespasser was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 1:59 p.m. on Wednesday, a trespasser was reported in the 700 block of North National Avenue. 

• At 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of a trespasser in the 1500 block of Rice Road. 

Suspect Found Non-Responsive, Booked on Heroin Charge

• At 1:59 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a report of a non-responsive person in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard. Police were about to give the person naloxone — an opiate antidote — when the subject woke up. Police arrested Luke R. Hosteler, 24, of Mossyrock, on suspicion of possession of heroin.

Hit and Runs

• At 6:46 p.m. on Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 2:44 p.m. on Thursday, a hit and run was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Scams Reported

• At 7:07 p.m. on Thursday, a person in the 100 block of Southeast Westside Drive reported receiving a scam call from a person pretending to be from the IRS. 

• At 3:57 p.m. on Thursday, a loan scam was reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard. 

Wallet Stolen

• At 8:28 p.m. on Thursday, a wallet was reported stolen in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.
