Pedestrian Cited for Walking in Traffic

• At 7:03 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the intersection of West Main Street and Tower Avenue and arrested Kelly L. Holen, 33, a transient, on suspicion of walking in front of a vehicle and almost causing a collision. 

Counterfeit $50 Reported

• At 7:33 a.m. on Friday, a counterfeit $50 was reported at a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue. 

Driver Arrested After Hitting Three Vehicles, Attempting to Enter Three More

• At 9:07 a.m. on Friday, police responded to collisions reported near the intersection of Maple and South Pearl streets. Carlos G. Reyna, 45, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of hit and run after his vehicle allegedly collided with two occupied vehicles and a third parked vehicle. Reyna then allegedly left his vehicle and “attempted to gain entry into at least three other vehicles before he was apprehended by police,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

Guns, Jewelry, Electronics Stolen in Burglaries

• At 9:11 a.m. on Friday, a burglary was reported to a residence in the 600 block of West Third Street. Firearms, jewelry and electronics were taken. 

• At 7:04 p.m. on Saturday, a burglary was reported at a residence in the 200 block of North Ash Street. A television and a rifle were reported stolen. 

Projector Taken from Classroom

• At 11:23 a.m. on Friday, a ceiling projector was reported stolen from a classroom in the 400 block of West Walnut Street. 

DUI

• At 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Thamar Estrada, 31, of Canby, Oregon, on suspicion of driving under the influence after a minor collision in a parking lot. 

Suspect Arrested After Alleged Assault on Nurse

• At 7 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road after receiving a report of an assault on a nurse. Carlos G. Reyna, 45, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault.  

Shoplifter Reported

• At 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a shoplifter in the 1400 block of Lum Road. An adult male reportedly left a store with clothing items stuffed in a stolen bag.  The case is under investigation. 

Suspect Booked for Assault After Woman’s Wrist Broken

• At 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. One woman reportedly shoved another to the ground during a dispute. Shelby A. Whittaker, 25, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault. The victim reportedly had a broken wrist. 

Rings, Diet Pills Stolen

• At 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, a burglary was reported in the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue. Two rings and a bottle of a weight-loss supplement were reported stolen. The case is under investigation. 

Stolen Mail Found in Centralia

• At 5:29 a.m. on Monday, police recovered mail near the intersection of Pear and Oak streets that had earlier been stolen from residents in South Thurston County. 

Chehalis Police Department 

Scam Reported

• At 9:16 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a scam call from the 1000 block of Southwest 21st Street in Chehalis. 

Accused Shoplifter Arrested, Found with Stolen ID

• At 1:06 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. Angie M. Benzshawel, 45, of McCleary, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft. At 2:20 p.m., police received a report in the 500 block of West Main Street of a burglary. A victim reported a theft of an ID and purse. Benzshawel was reportedly found with the ID and was booked on the additional charges of second-degree burglary and third-degree theft. 

Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Returning Stolen Items to Store

• At 3:51 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Crystal L. Harris, 38, of Chehalis, was accused of attempting to return merchandise that was stolen in  exchange for cash and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary because she had been banned from the store. 

Vehicles Egged

• At 6:29 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of vehicles being egged in the 700 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue. 

Gasoline Siphoned

• At 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a theft of gasoline in the 500 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue. The gas was siphoned out of another vehicle’s tank.  

Theft Reported

• At 3:38 p.m. on Sunday, a theft was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard. No arrests were made. 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

DUIs

• At midnight on Saturday, deputies stopped a vehicle driving the wrong way on Northeast Cascade Avenue. James M. Rocha, 21, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

• At 2:07 a.m. on Sunday, deputies stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of West Main Street and arrested Brandon Michael Lirette, 31, of Chauvin, Louisiana, on suspicion of DUI. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 245 inmates with 206 in general population, 37 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 169 were male and 37 female and of WERC inmates, 33 were male and four female. A total of 28 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
