Bicycle Reported Stolen

• At 8:22 a.m. on Monday, a bicycle was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Southwest Fifth Street.

Men Arrested for Alleged Fourth-Degree Assault

• Steven M. Mullins, 33, of Centralia, was arrested at

10:15 a.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly grabbing a woman by the neck and throwing her to the ground.

• Jobin O. Soto, 31, of Ethel, was arrested at 11 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of Southeast Washington Avenue on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• Jonathan S. Swegle, 50, of Chehalis was arrested at

3:21 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.

• Steven D. Couch, 29, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault at 8:02 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 Block of North Market Boulevard. 

Illegal Fireworks Reported

• At 6:01 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a person setting off illegal fireworks in the 800 block of Southwest Ninth Street.

Teens Arrested on Suspicion of Shoplifting

• Two Chehalis boys, ages 13 and 15, were referred to juvenile court on suspicion of shoplifting at 8:37 p.m. Monday in the 2100 block of National Avenue. 

Vehicle Prowls

• At 7:22 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a vehicle prowl overnight in the 200 block of Southwest James Street. Change was reported stolen.

• At 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1400 block of Southwest Mills Avenue in Chehalis. Tools were reported stolen.

Child on Bicycle Hit by Car

• At 1:46 p.m. on Tuesday, a child on a bicycle was hit by a car near the intersection of Main Street and Cascade Avenue. No other information was available.

Two Arrested for Shoplifting

• Jennifer L. Gutierrez, 36, of Centralia, and a 15-year-old Centralia girl were arrested at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue on suspicion of shoplifting $451 in merchandise.

Possible Stolen Property Recovered

• At 7:13 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of recovery of possibly stolen property. A person in the 400 block of Northeast Hillside Drive reported finding a drill and drill case with batteries, other tools, an emergency kit, a jacket and a backpack in some bushes.

Mail Stolen on Pear Street

• At 2:29 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a package stolen from a front porch in the 200 block of West Pear Street.

Man Charged With DUI Had Three Children in Car

 • Chad C. Cozby, 32, of Sumner, was arrested at

6:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Kresky Avenue on suspicion of DUI and three counts of reckless endangerment — one for each child in the vehicle with him.

Dog Reported Stolen

• At 7:37 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a dog stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of North Scheuber Road. The case is under investigation.

Fourth-Degree Assault Arrests

• Matthew L. Bates II, 31, of Centralia, was arrested at

9:36 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Mt. Vista Road on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly hitting his wife during a dispute.

• A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Rhobina Street on suspicion of assaulting his mother during a dispute.

Generator, Propane Heater Stolen

• At 4:18 p.m. on Wednesday, police received a report of a generator and propane heater stolen from a driveway in the 1000 block of South Tower Avenue. 

Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

• Trinidad Sanchez-Mendez, 47, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of DUI near the intersection of Pearl and First streets.  

Man Arrested on Burglary Charge

• Benjamin R. Hardy, 39, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary at 12:29 a.m. on Thursday in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue. Officers identified the man from security footage after receiving a report that a man had stolen food from the store. 

Motorcycle Reported Stolen

• At 6:32 a.m. on Thursday, a red Yamaha motorcycle was reported stolen in the 2000 block of North Tower Avenue.

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Three Cars Damaged in Early-Morning Chehalis Crash

• At 4:50 a.m. Monday, a speeding vehicle caused a crash that damaged three vehicles in the 200 block of Maurin Road in Chehalis. Trew A. Irwin, 18, of Centralia, was arrested and issued infractions for negligent driving, driving with a suspended license and not having car insurance. According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Irwin, driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was driving too fast around a corner when he lost control, spun the car, and t-boned a Pontiac Grand Am driven by a 38-year-old woman. Irwin’s car continued to spin and hit a third car.  

Shotgun Reported Stolen in Ethel

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen Mosberg 870 12-gauge shotgun on June 30 that was allegedly taken from the 1200 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Ethel.

Brush Fires

• At 4:03 p.m. Tuesday, a brush fire was reported in the 1000 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Chehalis.
