Sirens: Man Assaulted During Basketball Game; Male Juvenile Reported Hitting Kids With a Stick

Thefts

• At 8:01 a.m. Monday, a theft of a bicycle was reported in the 300 block of West Chestnut Street.

• At 3:30 p.m. Monday, a theft of money was reported in the 200 block of Cooks Hill Road.

• At 4:03 p.m. Monday, a theft of money was reported in the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 6:22 p.m. Monday, a theft of a backpack was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 1:55 a.m. Tuesday, a theft of a backpack was reported in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue.

 

Police Cite Driver After Collision

• At 2:12 p.m. Monday, police responded to an vehicle collision in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. One of the drivers was cited for failure to yield.

 

Man Violates Court Order

• At 8:32 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 600 block of South Washington Avenue and issued Bobbie J. Workman, 52, of Centralia a citation on suspicion of violating a court order.

 

Man Assaulted During Basketball Game

• At 4:31 p.m. Tuesday, police were alerted to a reported assault in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue. The caller indicated he was assaulted during a basketball game at a fitness center.

 

Two Booked on Obstruction, Warrant

• At 7:32 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1400 block of Oxford Avenue and arrested Dominque D. Vanmeerbeke, 34, of Centralia on suspicion of obstruction of justice and Larry E. Ridenour, 36, of Centralia on an outstanding Chehalis Municipal Court warrant.

Caller Reports People Wandering Around Neighboring Property

• At 3:32 p.m. Monday, police received a report of four males wandering around property in the 2200 block of Jackson Highway. The caller believed the land belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and stated the males had been wandering there for a few days.

 

Employees Catch Shoplifter

• At 4:48 p.m. Monday, police were alerted to an attempted shoplifter in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. Employees retrieved all merchandise from the suspect that they could see, but thought more might have been taken.

 

Man Threatens Woman’s Life

• At 7:19 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 500 block of North Market Boulevard, after receiving a report of a man telling a woman, “All I want to do is kill you.”

 

Woman Violates No Contact Order

• At 8:39 a.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to Southwest Chehalis Avenue after a caller reported their daughter had violated a no contact order, then drove away recklessly.

 

Window, Lock Box Broken at Vacant House

• At 2:02 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Northeast Washington Avenue after a caller reported a window and a lockbox had been broken at a vacant house.

 

Male Juvenile Reported Hitting Kids with a Stick, Hurling Racial Slur

• At 3:16 p.m. Tuesday, police received a report of a male juvenile in the 1500 block of Rice Road was hitting other people with a  stick, and calling people a racial slur.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

 

Two Dirt Bikes Speed Through Campground

• At 8:14 p.m. Monday, deputies were alerted to two riders on dirt bikes speeding around the campground in the 2200 block of Centralia-Alpha Road, Chehalis. A park employee tried to contact the riders, and one kicked the employee in the leg. They later caused damage to a vehicle the park employee used to block the road.

 

Deputies Respond to Campground Assault

• At 4:48 p.m. Monday, deputies were alerted to an assault in the 1900 block of Spencer Road, Salkum. Minor injuries were sustained.

 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 222 inmates with 186 in general population and 36 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 147 were male and 39 were female and of WERC inmates, 31 were male and five were female. A total of 45 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
