Sirens: Man Arrested After Running into Traffic, Throwing Rocks at Cars; Impatient Diner Accused of Assault; Wrong-Way Driver Causes Crash

Packages Stolen

• At 9:42 a.m. on Friday, a package was reported stolen from a porch in the 200 block of Latona Street. 

• At 10:04 a.m. on Friday, a package was reported stolen from a porch in the 700 block of Hamilton Avenue. 

• At 5:36 p.m. on Friday, a package was reported stolen from a front porch in the 300 block of Centralia College Boulevard.

• At 5:47 p.m. on Friday, a package was reported stolen from the 900 block of B Street. Video surveillance shows a male suspect, according to the police department, but does not show his face. 

Oil Taken

• At 7:53 p.m. on Friday, two quarts of oil were reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Belmont Avenue. Police are working to identify the male suspect using information about the vehicle he was driving. 

Shoplifter Reported

• At 7:55 p.m. on Friday, a shoplifter was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. A male suspect allegedly walked out of a business without paying for items. 

Man Arrested After Running into Traffic, Throwing Rocks at Cars

• At 7:08 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue to a report of a man running into traffic and throwing rocks at cars. Jesus D. Montano, 40, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.  

Police Seek Burglary Suspect

• At 4:18 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a burglary in the 1100 block of Long Road. A 27-year-old Centralia man allegedly broke into a residence where he used to live, assaulted a resident, broke items and fled. A K9 track was not successful. The man is being referred to prosecutors for charges. 

Suspect Booked on Malicious Mischief Charge

• At 11:58 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a dispute in the 100 block of West Plum Street. James J. Gedney, 47, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of malicious mischief — domestic violence after allegedly breaking items in the residence. 

Bremerton Theft Suspect Arrested

• At 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia and arrested Jason P. McDonald, 45, of Bremerton, on suspicion of third-degree theft. He was accused of taking items from a shop.  

Bag, Keychain Stolen

• At 3:22 p.m. on Sunday, a bag and a keychain were reported stolen in the 300 block of Lowe Street.

Impatient Diner Accused of Assault

• At 3:51 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue. A man was reportedly angry his food hadn’t yet arrived and asked for his money back. When an employee tried to call 911, he allegedly took the phone and struck the employee in the face. The man left before police arrived. An investigation is ongoing. 

Arizona Driver Arrested on DUI Charge

• At 6:26 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the intersection of Washington and First Streets after a vehicle hit a tree at a slow speed. Driver Christopher J. Long, 54, of Tuscon, Arizona, was arrested on suspicion of DUI. 

Wrong-Way Driver Causes Crash

• At 8:43 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the intersection of South Gold and Van Buren Street in Centralia. A vehicle heading the wrong way in the 1200 block of South Pearl Street reportedly caused a collision with another vehicle. One person was taken to a hospital for treatment. No arrests were reported. 

Driver Turns Across Traffic, Causes Crash

• At 9:01 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a collision in the 1600 block of South Gold Street. A driver in the right southbound lane reportedly turned left in front of a car in the left-hand southbound lane. A driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. 

Naked Neighbor Cited for Indecent Exposure

• At 9:07 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 300 block of North Washington Avenue and cited John K. Hagen, 42, of Centralia, on suspicion of indecent exposure. A neighbor reported seeing Hagen standing naked outside his residence. 

Woman Issued Summons for Assault Case

• At 10:43 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1200 block of Alder Street. A 30-year-old Chehalis woman was sent a court summons for a charge of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. She allegedly had a “physical altercation” with a man but left the scene before police arrived.

Harassment Reported

• At 8:25 p.m. on Friday, verbal harassment was reported in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue. No arrests were reported. 

Online-Shopping Fraud Reported

• At 9:05 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of fraud from the 1500 block of North National Avenue. A woman reported someone ordered a $1,100 laptop on her Amazon account. 

Attempted Burglary Reported

• At 2:04 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a possible attempted burglary in the 700 block of Southwest 20th Avenue. A person reported someone walked into their house, then left. 

Suspect Arrested for Protection Order Violation

• At 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Scott N. Edwards, 36, of Centralia, on suspicion of violation of a protection order. 

Door-Bell Ringer Reported to Police

• At 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report of subjects ringing a door bell in the 200 block of Southwest 10th Street. The reporting party was not able to give a description of the subject to police. 

Burglary Reported

• At 11:47 a.m. on Sunday, a burglary in the 2300 block of US Highway 12 in Ethel was reported to the Chehalis Police Department. 

Man Kicked Out of Bar Accused of Breaking Shop Windows

• At 11:33 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. A 36-year-old Chehalis man was reportedly upset at being kicked out of a bar and broke windows out of a shop down the street. The man is being sent a summons on a charge of second-degree malicious mischief.

Aberdeen Man Arrested on DUI Charge

• At 10:25 p.m. on Friday, deputies on U.S. Highway 12 in Glenoma pulled over a vehicle for not staying in its lane. Driver Valentine S. Padilla-Lopez, 25, of Aberdeen, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

Packwood Man Arrested After Collision

• At 3:18 p.m. on Sunday, deputies and aid crews responded to a single-vehicle crash on Forest Service 25 in Randle. Matthew T. Bavikoff, 36, of Packwood, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and third-degree driving with a suspended license. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 226 inmates with 194 in general population and 32 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 161 were male and 33 female and of WERC inmates, 30 were male and two female. A total of 31 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
