Centralia Police Department

Man Accused of Unlawful Transit Conduct, Resisting Arrest

• At 8:11 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the intersection of Tower Avenue and Sixth Street and arrested Phillip E. Allen, 40, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful transit conduct and resisting arrest.

Teen Referred to Prosecutors for Marijuana

• At 9:55 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Eshom Road for a report of a 14-year-old female with marijuana. The girl is being referred to prosecutors. 

Woman Cited on Assault Charge

• At 10:13 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 800 block of Marsh Avenue in Centralia and cited Glee Nelson, 84, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault domestic violence. She allegedly struck a person during an argument over money.

Assault Between School Children Reported

• At 4:42 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of an assault between school-aged children on a bus in the 800 block of Field Avenue. The incident is under investigation. 

DUIs

• At 2:01 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the intersection of Main Street and Tower Avenue and arrested Carlos Acosta Castro, 21, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

• At 5:32 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested Gavin S. Sutherland, 36, of Tumwater, on suspicion of DUI. Sutherland reportedly hit several parked vehicles before police responded. 

Medication Stolen

• At 11:30 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a theft of medication in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue.  

Attempted Burglary

• At 3:18 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an attempted burglary in the 400 block of Courtland Street. No arrests were made. The incident is under investigation. 

Hit and Run

• At 9:21 p.m. on Sunday, a hit and run was reported in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue. Hailey E. Patterson, 18, of Centralia, was cited and released on suspicion of hit and run. 

Suspect Booked on Assault Charge

• At 1:09 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 1000 block of B Street and arrested Valentino Vasquez, 34, of Chehalis, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

Vehicle Prowls

• At 9:30 a.m. on Friday a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. A purse was reported stolen. No arrests were made. 

• At 7:38 p.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. A purse was stolen. 

• At 8:04 p.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The suspect was reportedly seen reaching into a truck’s window and taking something. No arrests were reported. 

Hit and Run

• At 1:01 p.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard. 

Protection Order Violated

• At 5:57 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of a violation of a protection order in the 500 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue. A 47-year-old Cehalis man is being forwarded to prosecutors for a charge of violation of a protection order.

Thefts Reported

• At 6:58 p.m. on Friday, a third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a theft from a gas station in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue. The suspect was reportedly caught with candy in his pockets that he didn’t pay for. No arrests were reported. 

• At 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, a third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

• At 8:48 p.m. on Sunday, a third-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Assaults Reported

• At 9:59 p.m. on Saturday, a fourth-degree assault was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No arrest was reported. 

• At 11:26 a.m. on Sunday, a fourth-degree assault was reported in the 10 block of Southwest 11th Street in Chehalis. No arrest was reported. 

Suspicious Man Sings in Driveway, Tries to Enter Home

• At 1:23 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a suspicious, disorderly person in the 600 block of North National Avenue. A woman reported a man was standing in her driveway “singing ‘I just wanna be your friend, guys,’” according to the police department. The suspect reportedly tried to get in a window, but fled before police arrived. 

Windows Broken

• At 6:09 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report that a business’s window was broken in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. 

• At 2:01 p.m. on Sunday, a person in the 600 block of Northeast Franklin Avenue reported the front and back windows in his truck were shattered. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 214 inmates, including 181 in general population, 32 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 148 were men and 33 were women and of WERC inmates, 29 were men and three women.
