Sirens: Large Group of Teens Smoke Pot in Alley; Male in Car Brandishes Handgun

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 227 inmates, with 190 in general population and 34 in the work ethic and restitution center. Of general population inmates, 154 were male and 36 were female and of WERC inmates, 29 were male and five were female. A total of 38 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Large Group of Teens

Smoke Pot in Alley

• At 11:51 a.m. Wednesday, a group of around 20 to 30 high school aged teens was seen smoking marijuana in an alleyway in the 300 block of Southwest 14th Street.

 Car Seen Driving Erratically

• At 2:52 p.m. Wednesday, a caller in the 1200 block of Bishop Road reported a car being driven erratically.

 

Kids Congregate in Alley,

Break Things

• At 11:47 a.m. Thursday, a group of kids was seen in an alleyway at the intersection of 15th Street and Wilson Avenue littering, smoking and breaking things.

 

Burglary Reported

• At 6:25 p.m. Thursday, a burglary was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard. Batteries and other unspecified items were stolen.

 

Someone Spotted

Smoking Meth

• At 7:37 p.m. Thursday, a person was seen in the 100 block of Southwest Sixth Street outside smoking meth.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Three Car Tires Slashed

• At 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, police were advised three tires were slashed sometime overnight in the 1500 block of Windsor Avenue.

 

Hit and Run Suspect

Cited and Released

• At 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and cited and released Apolinar R. Arrendondo, 50, of Centralia on suspicion of hit and run.

 

Lost Credit Card Used to Make Purchases

• At 10:43 p.m. Wednesday, a caller in the 1000 block of Ellsbury Street said they had lost a credit card, and discovered it had since been used to make two purchases.

 

Male in Car Brandishes Handgun

• At 12:50 a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Long Road, where a person claimed a male passenger in a gray 1980s Toyota Camry or Honda Civic-type vehicle drove by and pointed a handgun.

 

Man Booked on Escape

Custody Warrant

• At 1:54 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the intersection of Mellen Street and Airport Road and arrested Nathan J.J. Hayes, 40, of Chehalis on a Department of Corrections warrant for escape from community custody.

 

Business Burglarized,

Multiple Items Stolen

• At 8:24 a.m. Thursday, a burglary was reported at a business in the 800 block of West First Street. A window was broken and multiple unspecified items stolen.

 

Two Bikes Taken

• At 3:04 p.m. Thursday, a theft of two bicycles was reported in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road.

 

Person Booked on DOC Warrant

• At 7:29 p.m. Thursday, police responded to southbound exit 82 ramp on Interstate 5 and arrested Anthony B. Velazquez, 36, of Centralia on a DOC escape community custody warrant.
