Sirens: Juvenile Charged for Smoking Pot on Bus; Group of Children Terrorize Playground

Thefts

• At 12:15 p.m. Friday, a theft of a ladder was reported in the 300 block of South Pearl Street.

• At 10:49 p.m. Friday, a theft of two packs of cigarettes was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue.

• At 2:11 p.m. Sunday, a theft of items was reported from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

 

Juvenile Charged for Smoking Pot on Bus

• At 1:28 p.m. Friday, a juvenile was caught smoking pot on a school bus in the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road. The juvenile was charged with a marijuana violation.

 

Assault Suspect Booked

• At 6:35 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1400 block of Lewis Street and arrested Michelle L. Betts, 49, of Centralia on suspicion of fourth-degree assault — domestic violence.

 

Juvenile Smashes Window of Police Vehicle

• At 9:32 p.m. Friday, a 16-year-old boy from Olympia was arrested on suspicion of second-degree malicious mischief after the boy allegedly smashed out a window of a police vehicle in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue.

 

Reported Assaults Under Investigation

• At 4:14 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of M Street on a report of a person assaulting a family member.

• At 7:23 p.m. Saturday, an assault was reported in the 700 block of Allen Avenue. Someone was punched in the back of the head, leaving a few scratches.

 

Suspect Booked for Negligent Driving

• At 7:32 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1700 block of Airport Road and arrested Halis C. Hankins, 22, of Chehalis on suspicion of first-degree negligent driving, third-degree driving with a suspended license and a bench warrant for fourth-degree assault — domestic violence.

 

Driver Cited for Suspended License

• At 5:13 p.m. Saturday, police responded to Pearl Street and Virginia Drive and cited a 29-year-old Centralia man on suspicion of third-degree driving with a suspended license.

Police Investigate Damage to House

• At 1:37 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 1000 block of Mellen Street where damage was reported to a residence.

 

Burglary

• At 4:44 p.m. Saturday, a burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Elm Street. Someone stole tools, a chainsaw and other items.

 

Vehicle Strikes Building, Driver Cited

• At 8:24 p.m. Sunday, a vehicle struck a building in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue. No injuries were reported and the driver was issued an infraction.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• At 7:32 a.m. Monday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

People Seen in Car Parked in Driveway

• At 3:44 p.m. Friday, police were requested in the 300 block of Southwest 15th Street, where the caller said people were sitting in her son’s car while he was at work. The caller said the car was parked in the driveway, and no one should be in it.

 

Broken Window Reported

• At 6:31 p.m. Friday, a caller in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue reported that someone broke a window.

 

People Seen Looking into Vehicle Windows

• At 10:50 p.m. Friday, a caller in the 200 block of South Market Boulevard reported two male subjects looking into vehicle windows.

 

Assault Suspect Booked

• At 1:14 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Joshua E. Gordon, 37, of Los Angeles, California on suspicion of violation of a protection order and assault.

 

Group of People Seen Shoving, Arguing

• At 2:25 p.m. Saturday, police were notified that a group of six men and one woman were arguing and pushing each other.

 

Group of Children Terrorize Playground

• At 2:40 p.m. Saturday, a caller in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street said a group of four kids were destroying a picnic table and throwing trash cans into a bathroom at a local playground.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

 

Deputies Investigate Assault

• At 7:01 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a reported assault in the 700 block of Tucker Road in Toledo. The victim reported being attacked by three individuals and had minor injuries.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

 

• As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 227 inmates, with 193 in general population, 33 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and one on work release. Of general population inmates, 156 were men and 37 were women and of WERC inmates, 28 were men and five were female. A total of 38 inmates were booked through contracts outside Lewis County.
