CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Suspect Booked for Violating Protection Order

• At 10:52 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 2800 block of Russell Road and arrested Allen G. Dunlap, 40, of Rochester on suspicion of violation of a protection order and on a Centralia Municipal Court warrant.

 

Hit and Run Suspect

Cited with Infraction

• At 6:28 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 200 block of North Diamond Street and issued a 33-year-old Centralia resident an infraction for hit and run.

 

Police Investigate Burglary

• At 9:26 p.m. Wednesday, a person cut a lock and unlawfully entered a building in the 800 block of Johnson Road.

 

Suspect Arrested, Released for Suspended License

• At 2:17 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the 500 block of South Oak Street and arrested and released a 48-year-old Centralia resident on suspicion of third-degree driving with a suspended license.

 

Methamphetamine Possession Under Investigation

• At 2:13 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road for a drug investigation. Methamphetamine was reportedly found in a purse. An investigation is ongoing. 

 

‘High-Valued Items’

Stolen From Vehicle

• At 2:57 p.m. on Thursday, police received a report of a first-degree theft from a vehicle in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road. “Numerous, high-valued items” were reported stolen, according to the police department. 

 

Cellphone, Bank Card Taken

• At 5:54 p.m. on Thursday, a cell phone and bank card were reported stolen in the 900 block of Johnson Road. 

 

Suspect Referred on

Harassment Charges

• At 10:36 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a report of harassment in the 2300 block of Eureka Avenue. A 39-year-old Centralia man is being referred to prosecutors on suspicion of felony harassment for allegedly sending threatening text messages to several people. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Hit and Runs

• At 11:06 a.m. Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in the 900 block of Northwest Vine Street.

• At 3:04 p.m. Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in at Cascade Avenue and Sixth Street.

• At 5:21 p.m. Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

 

Person Spotted in Area Where Previously Trespassed

• At 2:57 p.m. Wednesday, a caller in the 2100 block of North National Avenue said a person who had been trespassed from the area was spotted wandering around.

 

Unknown Suspect Steals Vehicle

• At 7:29 p.m. Wednesday, a pickup truck and camper were stolen in the 10 block of Southeast 16th Street.

 

Man Arrested After Malicious Mischief Reported

• At 8:22 a.m. on Thursday, police received a report of a person trying to kick open a door and gain entry to a house earlier that morning in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. A suspect was identified, but not arrested at the scene. Later that night, police responded to a report of a man sleeping on railroad tracks and learned it was the same man from the previous incident. Don K. Gonzales, 29, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and on suspicion of malicious mischief. 

 

Sheds Damaged

• At 11:54 a.m. on Thursday, malicious mischief was reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. Sheds in a parking lot were damaged. 

 

Indecent Exposure

Reported at Library

• At 12:17 p.m. on Thursday, police received a report of indecent exposure the previous day at the Chehalis Timberland Library in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. The man was asked to leave. 

 

Illegal Garbage

Dumping Reported

• At 12:48 p.m. on Thursday, a theft of services was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. A man was seen dumping garbage and household items into a business’s dumpsters. 

 

Man Arrested on Drug Violation After Convoluted Police Report

• At 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for a report of a no-contact order violation. They responded and the reporting person, a woman, reported she had been struck by an unrelated car. Police talked to the people in that car, who reported the man, associated with the woman, had actually broken their car’s window. The man, Joshua C. Meikle, 32, of Longview, was arrested on suspicion of malicious mischief and violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. 

 

Man Reported Lying in the Road, Missing Shoe

• At 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, police received a report of a man lying in the road, missing a shoe and moaning near the intersection of Third Street and Cascade Avenue. The reporting person called police back to report the man put his shoe back on and walked away.

 

Burglary Reported

• At 11:44 p.m. on Thursday, a burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest River Street. No further information was available.

 

Suspicious Man

With Guitar Reported

• At 1:46 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a suspicious person on Southwest Chehalis Avenue. The man was reportedly wearing a sweater and carrying a guitar. No arrests were reported. 

 

Suspect Referred on Trespass, Booked on Drug Charge

• At 3:12 a.m. on Friday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and arrested Kendall B. Steveson, 22, of Winlock, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and is being referred to prosecutors on suspicion of second-degree criminal trespass. 

 

Woman Reports

Assault by Husband

• At 5:25 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of an assault in the 900 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue. A woman reported her husband tried to smother her. No other information was immediately available. 

 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 210 inmates, with 172 in general population and 35 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and three on work release. Of general population inmates, 136 were male and 36 were female. Of WERC inmates, 31 were male and four were female. A total of 25 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
